Here's what in my head:

1) Subscribe the -cvs-ports and -ports mailing list
2) There have some nice options over at www.freshports.org such as news 
feeds (RSS).
3) http://www.freebsd.org/cgi/query-pr-summary.cgi?category=ports (don't 
know if there has more features for this.)
