Rerooting isn't a full replacement because it requires the kernel and its
initial root file system to come from somewhere other than the runtime root
file system. With isboot you can boot from iSCSI with iPXE (either flashed into
the NIC or chainloaded) keeping the system (kernel and userland) on s single
iSCSI target under full control of the iSCSI initiator.
