            Bug ID: 238108
Summary: "ports" man page needs update
           Product: Ports & Packages
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Some People
          Priority: ---
         Component: Ports Framework
          Assignee: portmgr at FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: jwb at freebsd.org
                CC: ports-bugs at FreeBSD.org

The "package" section in "man ports" appears to be wrong on two details:

package Make a binary package for the port. The port will
be installed if it has not already been. The
package is a .tbz file that you can use to install
the port on other machines with pkg-add(8). If the
directory specified by PACKAGES does not exist, the
package will be put into the current directory. See
                          PKGREPOSITORY and PKGFILE.

1. Default is .txz, not .tbz
2. If $PACKAGES does not exist, package is placed in work/pkg, not CWD
