            Bug ID: 228395
           Summary: ports-mgmt/porttools: Should probably insert
                    DISTVERSION instead of PORTVERSION
           Product: Ports & Packages
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: Any
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Some People
          Priority: ---
         Component: Individual Port(s)
          Assignee: skreuzer at FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: jwb at freebsd.org
          Assignee: skreuzer at FreeBSD.org
             Flags: maintainer-feedback?(skreuzer at FreeBSD.org)

The Porter's Handbook (and my mentors) state that DISTVERSION should be used
instead of PORTVERSION whenever possible (section 5.2.2):

https://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/porters-handbook/makefile-naming.html

The "port create" command currently inserts PORTVERSION into new skeletal
ports, though.

Should just be a matter of updating tmpl/*.
