First of all info has become deprecated on FreeBSD. Standard is providing man
pages. HTML is nice to have.

As there were no man pages with version 2 I used the HTML docs. There is no
more info on my systems. 

Now version 3 has no more HTML but texi files and you are telling me to use
info??

Maybe this would be a good time to think about providing the standard man
pages. 
I do not understand why the ports should not have HTML docs. Curious.
