Yes, we need to push this forward.  My original intention is to update OCaml to
version 4.05 which should not break existing ports; 4.06+ introduced some more
potentially disrupting changes which would require careful checking of
consumers and/or another exp-run.  I was actually working on it since last
December as Gerald had noticed, and need to get back to it (and other related
PRs).
