With FreeBSD 12-CURRENT, the pefs.ko kernel module fails to load. I've compiled
it from source. kldload perfs.ko gives 

link_elf_obj: symbol bzero undefined
linker_load_file: /boot/modules/pefs.ko - unsupported file type
