We use PGSQL  9.6. I had to patch QGIS (recent version from ports) to use
postgis22 rather than postgis21. I'd like to see the proposed framework. It is
a pain in the ass having to different PostgreSQL installations on the same host
- if even possible - when one preferes most recent PostgreSQL version.

It is even more complicated on poudriere: setting DEFAULT_VERSION+= to
PostgreSQL 9.6, nails down ALL ports to that version - as desired.
