The UPDATING looks very good.

I am not sure but I think people using other extensions like, say, postgis, or
plperl, or plruby, or... will need to do the same as what you tell them to do
with postgresql93-contrib.

Also, I think the pkg fetch dance is only really valid when using pkg upgrade. 
People who are using portmaster/portupgrade will need to archive their current,
local, postgresql packages, with something like pkg create postgresql93-server.
