Dear Vladimir,
thank you for asking. According to the discussion on
https://github.com/ranger/ranger/issues/272#issuecomment-215179378 the root
cause it in python as http://bugs.python.org/issue7384.

The fix proposed by myself helps only for a few cases. I am not sure how such a
situation should be handled. I have no problem if the patch would be rejected
and the bug closed because the root cause is not within ranger. I have trust in
the experienced people here at FreeBSD to know the best way to proceed. This
includes the original reporter, too.
