            Bug ID: 213548
           Summary: pkg and port installation
           Product: Ports & Packages
           Version: Latest
          Hardware: amd64
                OS: Any
            Status: New
          Severity: Affects Only Me
          Priority: ---
         Component: Individual Port(s)
          Assignee: freebsd-ports-bugs at FreeBSD.org
          Reporter: samuel88125 at gmail.com

i am a newbie to freebsd. i installed it on my system without partitioning to
learn the OS using the handbook.in chapter 4 on installing application. To
bootstrap the system using the command /usr/sbin/pkg.what i saw as output is a
prebuilt version of pkg could not be found for your system.consider changing
package or installing from port.
I tried to install the port using the code cd /usr/ports/ports-mgmt/pkg and
then make but got the error message couldn't fetch it - please try to retrieve
this manually into /usr/ports/distfiles and try again.
i have searched and tried so many codes online to fix this problem but could
not.i do not understand what the problem could be whether it is my DNS OR
server network. i would need some assistance on this. like i said i am a
beginner trying to learn the OS.
