I just did another test - not on Linux, but on OpenIndiana (i.e. Solaris).
mysql 5.7.15 works fine on there, so this is definitley a FreeBSD issue. I also
mounted the FreeBSD zpool and used those files so I know the data is identical,
and its the same machine so the hardware is identical. The only difference is
the OS.

But you cannot reproduce this issue, yes ? Hmm, what can I do to help debug
this now. I have a system here which shows the issue, its very reproducible
with our data.
