First of all: KUDOS to FreeBSD VirtualBox maintainers. Version 5.18 is AWESOME!

Established VBox CentOS Guest connection with FBSD Host physical DVD. CentOS
VBox guest successfully recognizes host DVD insertion and successfully mounts
said media.

Attempts to playback host movie DVD results in numerous sense errors and a
handful of "Buffer I/O" errors. Log of playback attempt included as an
attachment to this report.

VBox Guest VLC is unable to successfully play host movie DVD.

FWIW - host VLC has no problem with movie DVD playback.
