Hi,

I am willing to work on this.

We had a discussion during the summer about trying to break out libpq and only
use the latest released version of that, so we would not be so dependent on the
correcct postgresqlNN-client for every port. It might be out of context for
this requirement though, but it would be a good thing if it possible. I'll have
a discussion with pother pgsql-packagers about this idea. 

So anyway, bare with us for a while, and I'll get back to this shortly.
