Thanks for the report.

After trying with SAGA GIS 2.1.2 (from ports), 2.1.4 (not in ports yet) and
2.2.0 (devel version, not in ports) I can confirm, that the described problem
only appears with version 2.1.2. That version is not recognized by the QGIS
2.8.1 processing algorithm.

QGIS 2.8.1 is the first version, which distinguishes between the newer SAGA GIS
versions. It seems, the code is new and not well tested:

The next two steps from me would be:

1. Prepare SAGA GIS 2.1.4 as a port. (Please let me know, if you want to try
out with a draft version.)

2. Because it is not clear, if the problems is caused by SAGA GIS 2.1.2 or by
the new code in QGIS 2.8.1, I will have to look into the python scripts of
both.
