 I've rolled a 9.0 box to investigate this - at first brush I'm reluctant to r=
 evert the prior patch as it addressed a problem with initgroups_ignoreusers t=
 hat could cause trouble for some environments (long hangs at startup), but o=
 nce I know why it broke on 9.x we should be able to find a fix.
