 The only benefit I see at the moment is that ndoutils can be build with SSL support.
 
 If I have some more time I will look to import idoutils from icinga since they
 also have support for postgres wich was announced long time ago for ndoutils
 but now postgres is even dropped from the ndoutils configure files.
