The following reply was made to PR ports/73363; it has been noted by GNATS.

Adding the authoritative statement solved the problem.

We still have that weird DNS problem, but it looks like there is no
 DHCPD problem.

Thank you very much for your help.

I don't know, but, if it's a generic bug, maybe it is solved in the
 last

version ? however, see the attached answer from the isc's dhcp-server
 ml.

 please, check http://www.isc.org/sw/dhcp/authoritative.php first,

then, if that don't solve your problem, could you send your

daemon.info (or even daemon.debug) syslogs to David W. Hankins (CC me) ?

 thanks.

first i remember hearing of it.

i would recommend asking the original reporter for his dhcpd syslogs

on the amd64 machine. every packet in and out of the server logs the

mac address of the client to daemon.err or daemon.info. see if the

logged mac address is mangled, make sure it matches one of his host

 statements which have a fixed-address.

the logs would also help diagnose some forms of user error. my spidey

sense thinks he's geting "no free leases" due to the way i read the

config file...those subnets probably should be enclosed in a

 shared-network clause, among other things.

 also, suggest he/she examine this url;

 	http://www.isc.org/sw/dhcp/authoritative.php

since his config file is lacking an authoritative clause.
