That will not fix the problem. The shell spawned by su(1) will still
be the user's login shell. At least that's what my understading of
su(1) and some quick tests show.

How about,

		( echo "\
			cd ${seti_wrkdir}/${i} || exit; \
			.
			.
			.
			done > /dev/null" |
		su -fm ${seti_user} /bin/sh ) &

Not pretty, but it should do what you want.
