version 1.67 was just released:

This is the first step towards 2.0 (2.0RC1 if you like). Most of the
changes address minors and documentation. However, two larger tasks were
also done:
Pyun improved the locking for tables (by removing unnecessary locks) to
speed the table code up (try $pfctl -Tshow with a large table ;), while
I started some long standing cleanups to improve readability, reduce
diff size and so forth.

If you have 1.66 there is no real need to update (if you don't use
tables excessively) if you have any older version, please give it a try.
The port will not be updated before 2.0!
