Your Webpage on ReadLine

I was reading your webpage at http://www.freshports.org/devel/p5-ReadLine-Perl/ and wanted to know how I could test for whether the more elaborate version of readline is installed or not.  What function will work if the extended version is installed?  I have a program that has a dependency on the new one and need to test whether the new one is working to isolate troubleshooting.
