System perforamance 4.x vs. 5.x and 6.x

IIRC, signal 6 is an indicator that you've compiled binaries that are
almost, but not quite compatible with your CPU.

If this machine has been 4.X for a while, it's probably old hardware.
Make sure you're using the correct CPU definition in your kernel
config and in your make configuration.

What _is_ the hardware?
