libreoffice 3.5.2: crashes upon opening files

Same goes for saving files.
New spreadsheet, put '123' in cell A1, hit save (or ctrl-s), hit ok... CRASH.
Frustrating!

I ask a question... is it related to my post-install mods...

chmod -h ugo-x /usr/local/libexec/gam_server

Aha!, but 3.4.5 worked fine with them, so maybe I think now
not due to my post-install. But I post the below relations anyway.
