Is there an easy way to set up a local deskjet pinter?

As an alternative to the CUPS method described in the Handbook,
I decided to install apsfilter from ports.  'Twas *almost* a peace of
cake; once I figured out a permissions issue, Andreas got another
post card.  I like it a *lot*.
