Three Quick Questions

Three quick questions here.

When installing ports how do I pass switches?
ex. make --args install  (is this how?)

If  I  am connected via ssh and get disconnected how do I login and kill the old
session?

When  upgrading  via  cvsup how do I tell what has changed to see if it is worth
upgrading after running the cvsup session?
