[em] 7.1-PRE, one em port works, one fails, no problem on 6.3-p1

Hi Jack,

I've just run some simple tests with your second tar file, and seems to 
work fine.  The error message on boot up is gone, and data can be 
transferred.  I'll leave it running on this version and report any other 
issues I see.
