Ok, I tried only this one:

reset_kbd(kbdc);

First ran into -Werror for unused local variables :o

Well, it works! Did two cold starts with this code just to be sure, both
touchpad and trackpoint working flawlessly :)

Do you still need me to test the alternative reset/restore functions in
isolation as well?
