IMO, it would make more sense if pcm1 also had a recording device
and the front mic was assigned to that. These modern 7.1+2 codecs
are really intended to support multistreaming:
(1) playback (up to 7.1) and recording on the rear panel
(2) a headset (headphones + mic) on the front panel
