The default (supported and maintained) linux.osrelease for all
platforms is 2.4.2. As for RELENG_7 it _may_ change to 2.6.16
before 7.1. There are no plans to do it for 6.x.

Hence I won't advice using 2.6 with anything else but RELENG_7.
