recently appeared sound problems (q3demo doesn't start anymore - signal 11 when initializing sound)

Hello,

Every so often I play /usr/ports/games/linux-quake3-demo. But let's cut
the story short: I know it (game) worked flawlessly about two months ago,
because that's the last time I played it, but now I can't run the damn
game. It exits at:

  ------- sound initialization -------
  ------------------------------------
  Received signal 11, exiting...

In these two months I've upgraded system often, so I guess the "problem"
must be there, however, I haven't tried to downgrade. If you have any
ideas what is wrong, what can I do or whatever concerning this subject
(more information, dmesg?), please let me know. Maybe there is something
trivial?

P.S. I'm following tag=RELENG_6 (last upgrade Jul 21). Part of kdump:
