Ok, no problem.
I did 'pvr250-setchannel -d 0 -a on -m 4 196.25' and got this

nothing happens, test.mpg doesn't grow (nor does usage in filesystem). When I use CTRL-C to abort the command, I get the following line in /var/log/messages:
