Well, the Soundblaster Live! (snd_emu10k1) provides four vchannels in
hardware, ie., you don't need to set the sysctl manually. Thus, I'm
using 4 vchans on this laptop with snd_ich(4) hardware since day one. No
ill effect observed, and I think 4-8 would be an ideal range.
