6-stable: sound troubles

Hello,

first of all, even if I do run a recent 6-stable, I do not know that
this problem is due to the soundsystem update, I did not notice this
problem before, but I'm not sure it wasn't there.
The problem is that I can't change the volume of the pcm0 device (dsp0,
mixer0, etc). The volume is constant, no matter which way I try to
change it ('mixer', volume control in xmms, volume control in mplayer).
Yes, mplayer is recompiled after upgrading -stable.
The pcm1 device (built in soundcard) works normally.

Info about the system:

device = 'EMU10000 Sound Blaster Live! (Also Live! 5.1) - OEM from DELL - CT4780'

Let me know if there is anything I can do to nail this down.
