Mahalo.com is a educational content publisher, focused on creating
high-quality web-based videos and written courses to help the world
“Learn Anything.” We're well-funded by Sequoia (the same people that
backed Google, Yahoo and YouTube), as well as Newscorp, Mark Cuban,
Elon Musk (Paypal) and CBS. Our library is growing rapidly as we
continue to focus our efforts on joining users with expert teaching
content.

We're looking for an Operations Engineer with a generalist background.
This position will focus on working with our development team to
manage our video library, including backups, streaming, and rendering.
Ideally you would also be familiar with web serving, database
administration, networking, and data management in a media context.

We're looking for people who are excited and eager to learn. We look
for individuals with solid skills and raw talent beneath that and
teach them more in a few months than other companies would teach them
in a year. And we're a Silicon Valley-style company that happens to be
in LA: this kind of opportunity is rare. The rewards are potentially
life-changing.

You should be be familiar with:
- FreeBSD
- Streaming/Transcoding Video
- Media storage/backup

Pluses:
- Nginx
- Memcached
- MySQL
- Python/Django
- Networking (VLAN, LDAP, RADIUS, 802.11, routing, etc)

You are a HANDS ON implementor, a get-it-done kind of person. You are
the kind of person who shows up everyday absolutely ready to 'kill
it'.

Although we work hard, we offer:
- laid-back environment
- competitive salary
- benefits
- stock options
- Mahalo Fit Club three days a week at 5PM (free obviously).
- Healthy breakfast provided daily as well as a state-of-the-art
coffee machine :)
- Laundry service
