Senior UNIX Systems Administrator
Position Summary:
A Senior UNIX administrator who can design, implement
and maintain a solid, reliable UNIX infrastructure in
a heterogeneous FreeBSD/Linux environment.
Responsibilities:
Maintaining FreeBSD/Linux server infrastructure
Maintaining all firewalls, including Cisco and
FreeBSD IPFW rules
Maintaining all FreeBSD/Linux applications
postfix, RSA server, DNS, etc
Implementing new FreeBSD/Linux applications where
necessary
Creating and maintaining complete network
documentation
Managing FreeBSD/Linux backups and offsite storage
of tape media
Troubleshoot and resolve FreeBSD/Linux server
problems quickly
Maintain Gateway hosts and VPNs
Maintain systems in development/demo lab area
Support diverse hardware and software needs for
Development Lab
Test and evaluate hardware for project/site purposes
Emergency field support for our nationwide Customers
Requirements:
The ideal candidate has/is:
At least five (5)+ years experience as a UNIX server
administrator
At least four (4) years customer service related
experience
Superior with RAID drive arrays
Superior Skills with FreeBSD, Linux
Outstanding customer service skills
Outstanding time management skills
Outstanding communication skills, both written and
verbal
Proficient with Perl, Csh (or other UNIX shells)
Proficient with DNS, NFS/Samba, NIS, DHCP, BGP, RSA
Proficient with UNIX security and firewall design
Proficient with Mylex, 3Ware, DPT RAID cards
Familiar with MySQL and Postgre databases
Familiar with Cisco routers and FreeBSD IPFW
Highly self-motivated, as well as capable of
inspiring other team members to perform
The ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
Excellent mechanical aptitude
BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
work experience
