I've been working in the field for over 10 years (13 if you include
volunteer work).  My profile and resume are more or less a sliding
window, keeping the past 3-4 jobs, since anything longer than 3 pages
tops is considered superfluous.

I believe you read my resume and concluded that I had "just finished
high school".  I haven't attended any type-of schooling since January
1994; this is shown.  Throughout my schooling, I concurrently gained my
CNE (but do not list it, since I have no desire to be contacted by recruiters
wanting someone to maintain their Netware networks ;) ), while simultaneously
working for over 4 years at Oregon State University.  Since 1994 I've
been working for either universities or small-to-large companies doing
*IX administrative work.  None of this is listed on my resume due to
the aforementioned -- it's old news.  No agency cares to know about
how I worked for OSU from 1990-1995, MediaCity and Verity in 1995-1996,
nor BendNet in 1997.  Yadda yadda yadda.

In addition, different companies need individuals for different positions.
I have no problem working as either a gopher, an "assistant", or a senior
administrator.  Too much focus in this industry is put on something as
miniscule as a title.  I was hired by those companies for the positions
you see (either an Asst. or a Senior), and had I not been suited for the
position, I would not have been given it.

To answer your question directly: you're asking the wrong person.  You
should be asking all the companies out there wanting a "senior"
administrator to explain what it is that's "senior" to them.  If you
want a literal number, here you go: 8+ years seems to be the defining
difference between Senior and Junior.
