As for upgrading, YMMV, but I've done more than a dozen jdk port
installations and upgrades for various systems in recent years and I
hadn't had a problem once.
As for stability issues, I've had as many jvm crashes as on my Windows
systems. Of course when using the exeprimental/alpha/developer's-only
jdk15 port then these should be expected, but if you don't care for it,
why not use the time-proven jdk14 port?
