Unable to use J2EE 1.4

Ive been doing Java web development on BSD for a few years now, and
recently tried to move to J2EE 1.4 only to be completely confused by
Suns new system.

First off, trying to download the J2EE SDK, they now force you to
download the JDK + Sun App server bundle? (Sun Java System Application
Server Platform Edition 8.1 2005Q1 Release Candidate)

Resolving myself to the pain I knew was ahead, I grab the Linux version
(sjsas_pe-8_1_2005Q1-linux.bin), which is now a binary instead of a zip.
Trying to run this binary results in the lovely FreeBSD not supported
message.

Does anyone know how to get this bundle of joy working, or how to aquire
just the SDK?

I also tried to download the JMS SDK, which of course brought me to the
download page for the Sun Java System Message Queue Platform Edition. It
seems Suns new vision is to bundle the SDK with the associated Sun
product, forcing you to infect your machine.
