Old jail dir reappears after reboot - why?

Ok, I know very little about ZFS, but this raises suspicions:
jail on /jail (zfs, local, noatime)
Can anyone else comment on the implications with regards to Redd's
machine's behavior? For instance, after umounting /jail, does the ZFS
pool (?) have to be shut down as well?
