I've used boxes from ixsystems.com and freebsdsystems.com, both
vendors are extremely knowledgable about FreeBSD and make sure their
hardware is completely FreeBSD compatable. (they'll even preinstall
it for you.)
If you go with someone like Dell or HP you'll get comparable hardware
at a cheaper price but you won't get any help from them whatsoever in
trying to figure out if their hardware is completely compatable, and
yes, I've run FBSD with good and bad results on various dell boxes
over the years.
