The FreeBSD kernel has grown x86-specific UEFI and BIOS warts in the GPT
code that turned into bugs over time. The one that affects you is that
the MBR is re-created unconditionally and the PMBR partition is flagged
as active everytime that happens. This is against the EFI spec.
