Yes, I'm using one like that.

Be aware that LSI has two sets of firmware for that card -- one that 
runs it as a dumb HBA, one that runs it in RAID mode.  I have the HBA 
code flashed onto mine, though I think mpt(4) works with either firmware 
set.
