Gigabit Ethernet controller support (Intel 82563)

Hi fellas,

looking for a clear answer about the Intel 82563 eth. controller support 
in FreeBSD,
I found testimonias dating back to 2006 in which no conclusion could be 
drawn about
the support status.  Since the controller is not one of those supported 
by the em(4)
driver (expected to implement the support when looking at the hardware 
notes/man page),
should I give it a try or forget about it ?
