Seems fine from here tracking RELELNG_6:
9:32am yakko /home/jamie %uname -a
FreeBSD yakko 6.1-PRERELEASE FreeBSD 6.1-PRERELEASE #0: Sat Apr 1
12:45:57 EST 2006 jamie at yakko:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/yakko i386
9:32am yakko /home/jamie %dmesg | grep acd
acd0: DVDR <PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-107D/1.22> at ata1-slave UDMA33
acd1: DVDR <PLEXTOR DVDR PX-716A/1.09> at ata3-master SATA150
This drive replaced a pair of older Plextor SCSI drives that I've had
for almost 8 years now (UltraPlex 40Max and PlexWriter 8/20).
I haven't tried to burn anything under FreeBSD, but it acts as a
CD/DVD ROM just fine.
