>X2100 isn't a SPARC, but AMD64. You can install either i386 or amd64 version on it. It is based on desktop motherboard with nForce Pro chipset and the first ehternet adapter wouldn't work.

Thanks for the message. What s the first adaptor about? I know FreeBSD 
supports variety of Ethernet Adaptor, including bge (boardcom). I 
installed FreeBSD 5.3 on a HP proliant 10 months ago for my client, the 
machine has bge ethernet adaptor and it works great.
