AMD Server comparable to Intel/Xeon ... ?

It depends of how much you want to spend. We use Tyan Thunder K7 boards 
with Athlon MP CPUs. There are different versions available with LAN und 
SCSI on board. The Thunder K8 family is for the Opteron CPU.

Some of the machines run FreeBSD 4.x and 5.2.
