Hi, my apologies if this is not the correct list to ask this.

I'm having a problem getting sound to work on my PC at work.

The hardware is an hp compaq (that's all I know), relatively
new. I've added the "device pcm" into the config file and
rebuilt world but when I reboot sound doesn't work and
xemacs crashes when it tries to use it.

Appended is the output from /dev/sndstat and dmesg
Any advice or help would be appreciated.

d

p.s. please reply to this list since I don't read email
at this account. thx in advance
