Is it considered to be ok to not check the return code of close(2) in base?

^ This is what is the most demotivating thing to me if I look at entire
thread. And mind you, I am new compared to a lot of people discussing
here. We want to have a space where newcomers can come and ask questions
without being judged like this. So, no, discussions don't push people
away, at least not the newcomers, imo.

Problem is we all have a different definition on 'new'. So, let's not
ask people to stop discussing something just because we don't like it.
Use the 'delete' key as needed. :-) (I do it on most of the emails on
mailing lists.)
