For lack of other ideas, I looked and noted that there's new Unifi software,
both controller and firmware. Installed that, and I have yet to see these
issues.
I have no answer for why Linux and MacOS were able to talk reliably with the
older Unifi stuff. If this starts misbehaving again I'll note it here.
Otherwise, I guess it's working now, without anything changing on the FreeBSD
side. (Well. I'm assuming nothing has changed. I noticed that BETA3 images
were out so I wrote one to a USB stick and installed with that. Did anything
change in BETA3 that could matter here?)
BTW, the new hardening screen in the installer is interesting. Made me wonder
if anything breaks with, for instance, the stack guard.
