FreeBSD Port: x11/mate-desktop

Hello,

I am not using freedsd now, but have used it on and off since it was 
first released.

I have made a number of customizations to the gtk2 themes that I have 
used with the original gnome-desktop and mate.

I have zero interest in a constantly changing desktop/graphics tool kit api.

I was pleased to see that Firefox and Thunderbird on freebsd have a gtk2 
option.

I was also pleased to see that the current version of mate is still a 
gtk2 version.

All of this, plus what appears to be reasonable support of intel graphic 
chips on laptops has got me thinking about moving back to Freebsd.

However,if the plan is to drop the gtk2 version of mate when gtk3 
support in mate is reasonable as opposed to continuing to have a gtk2 
version of mate which receives no further upgrades, I think I'll stay 
where I am.

So that's my question. Will you keep a gtk2 version of mate available 
after the gtk3 version is production quality.
